The Student Room Group
Make a list of things that would usually cheer you up and engage in some of these activities if appropriate.

I don't feel too bad, but an important step is realising why you are feeling low - it's normal to feel that way.

Have a look at http://teenagerstoday.com/resources/articles/pms.htm

Apparently chocolate helps because it contains a hormone that increases happiness levels.

its not normal. i never usually feel like this, and if ever i have done- it's been because of PMS. If you always feel like that, see your doctor.

josiette- thanks, I've already had chocolate and now i just feel a bit guilty for eating so much of it
:hugs: You could try ringing someone special that would make you happy? Thats what I'd normally do!

Also I don't know if you tend to suffer from pms most months - but if you do, have you considered going on the pill? It is used to reduce symptoms of pms, most pain that you experience and can also be useful for making your period lighter. It might be something worth considering if its getting you down!

Maybe you could put some loud music on (hopefully you're somewhere where you won't be disturbing anyone) and have a sing/dance to your favourite CD. That always puts me in a better mood - plus, you'd be doing exercise so you wouldn't have to feel guilty about eating the chocolate anymore! I hope you feel better soon xx
Or even go and see someone special, being with them instantly cheers me up!
there's not really a lot i can do about it when i feel like that, except just wait it out and know it'll go eventually

i'm in uni halls, people are everywhere... and no i can't tell them how i feel  thanks though.

rosalily- thanks, i've already spoken to my mum on the phone and i couldnt say much or i'd have cried. :frown:
find a magazine read it in bed and go to sleep
Have you ever tried taking Evening Primrose oil? I have just started taking it today, as I was fed up with having the mood swings, etc. It's supposed to maintain a healthy hormone balance and healthy skin.

Maybe you'll feel better once its out of your system? Anyway, if you can find someone suitable, go and get a hug :hugs: always makes me feel likes someone cares! If all else fails, why not try sleeping for a while? A bit of rest might change your mood. I hope you feel better soon!

i can't actually remember the last time i smiled... gah.
The pill? It depends on which one you go on though. My last one Cerazette (a minipill) caused worse PMT, I'd have it for a week before my period and then my period would last nearly 2 weeks. I had to change. A lot of combined pills are known to reduce PMT, the pains, the moods, etc. Now I'm on Microgynon and started my weeks break yesterday. No PMT at all even though I haven't come on yet. Hopefully it will be a lot shorter though. The pill is suppost to make them shorter too.
