Hi, could someone please tell me whether or not Robertson and Roberton's (68) study supports the PDD model or not, and if it supports Bowlby's theory of maternal deprivation. I've looked through quite a lot of books and notes and everything seems to be saying something different, and it doesn't make sense.
Thanks

Robertson and Robertson did observational studies based on deprivation. Deprivation means when an infant has formed an bond but it is then taken away it can either be for a short period of time or a long period of time. In this case R & R is a study focusing on the short term effects of deprivation. The PDD model is a model that Robertson and Bowlby came up with, it explains the behaviours children show when detached from their caregivers for a short period of time. Yes the PDD model does support R & R study as it explains the behaviours Jhon the boy they observed showed. Protest, Despair and Detached. Whereas the Maternal deprivation hypothesis support Bowlby 44 thieves.

Hope this helped, learned it today in lesson.
