    Hai there...

It was my plan to resit the Unit 3 Shakespeare exam in Jan so I could have an idea of how well I needed to do in June to get an A or B before I actually went in to do the exam. It would make me feel a lot better! HOWEVER my school told me this week that I can't do that. I either have to resit another unit in Jan (which wouldn't be that bad since I have another unit in which I got quite similar marks that I could resit) or resit the Shakespeare one next summer. I checked and the exam is scheduled for 14th May, a month before any of my A2 exams but I'm still unsure if I should do it then. I think it would be extra stress but then again I'm going to be madly stressed out by then anyway so it might not make that much difference. Has anyone got any similar experiences that might help me make my decision? At the moment I'm more inclined to go with waiting till the summer and do it in May but I'm really not sure. My English teacher thinks it might be a good idea to get it out of the way asap but I think that a year of an essay a week or so will do me good rather than cramming in loads of work in the next month or so..

    Advice would be appreciated!

I'd suggest trying to find out why you can't resit in Jan - there are sometimes ligitamate reasons such as not all units being available at the start of the year. Have you considered resitting antoher unit - sometimes it is easier to improve a unit you did well on the first instance then trying to improve a particularly difficult unit. Overall, I would recommend doing the Jan resit and then you could do it again if something goes wrong in June. It depends how many other exams you have in January and the amount of time you can devote to revision. My teachers have all recommended doing January resits. Hope this helps

Are you taking English lit with Edexcel? If so, the problem you're having is due to the fact that in January, Edexcel only run units 1,2 and 4....oddly.

Don't do it in the summer! When the time comes, you'll be really annoyed that you have to spend time revising for an AS exam - and your attention will be distracted away from your A2s until a month before they begin. Not good.
