Well i should probably be in a library working. I've showered now and graduated to tracksuit bottoms and a man's shirt. I'll have to go out in about 45 minutes though so I'll have to wear real clothes.

I don't really like to go out looking like a raggamuffin. Plus tracksuit bottoms on me aren't really suitable outdoors because they're about 6 inches too long for my little legs.

true story- when my friend at wycliffe was moving in his removal men (the CofE pays for them for trainee vicars) very nearly knocked richard dawkins off his bike with a box of bibles and theology books. Sweet irony.

Does anyone else find they tend to write longer essays as the term goes on? The last couple of essays I wrote in Trinity were more than double the length of the essays I produced yesterday or today

I am also consoling myself with 80s rock (The Babys - isn't it time).

I tend to write more notes for tutes etc. as term goes on, yep. This is worrying, since I've already got about 20 sides of A4 for this week's tute, and I'm not even close to being done yet.
Did you get the random IT problem sorted? Is it in any way related to the disappearance of (what I assume to be) your library from iTunes?

Incidentally Athena, thought you'd like to know that there will be a fire drill in Jowett at 9:15 on Thursday morning.

No, I haven't - I turned iTunes sharing off to see if that helped, and I've just turned it back on to see if I get another email. Silly man.

Thanks for the fire alarm heads up! Thursday is my morning-after day, usually, but as I have to go up to the JR for a lab meeting, I need to be out of bed anyway... How come you're in the know and we're not?

Hehehe... your iTunes password was pretty easy to guess

The email about the fire drill went round on one of our JCR maillists, rather than a Jowett-specific one - which is odd, since we got a Jowett-y email earlier today, which I suppose you guys got as well?

About drinks? Yeah, would be lovely, were I not at home on Friday seeing the shoulder specialist, and trying to get graduate application schtuff together. And my password was intended to be easy to guess :p:

I don't know anyone who's actually ever been to one of those start-of-year things with the wardens. Last year, I think they tried to sell it as a pre-bop thing...

How's all the grad stuff going? Where are you looking at going? I'm going to have to start stalking potential supervisors soon :ninja:

I'm basically looking at every lab in the country that does my stuff: one at Leicester, two at the Sanger at Cambridge, and two at Oxford. It's the Sanger stuff I want sorted, because they have a mid-December deadline - but you don't have to write a research proposal, so that makes things slightly easier.

What about you - thinking of going back to the lab you worked with over the summer?

Potentially... but I'm a long way from being sure. I'll be spending the next few weeks reading papers and meeting with potential supervisors, I think.
