Completely off topic, but sorry for completely failing to acknowledge you earlier. I was about six-feet deep in conversation and would have completely lost myself.
Um, I don't remember seeing you, so don't feel guilty (as I blatently didn't notice you!)

I'm not quite sure I understand you Athena. What sort of a formal swap are you talking about?

Formal hall. They come to formal (or the equivalent, eg. guest dinner - Wadham has to have special MCR exchange dinners...), and then, a few weeks later, you go to their college for the same. This also happens within Oxford between MCRs.

You were coming out of your tower with some other people this evening. 9:30ish, at a guess?

Oh yeah! Well, never mind - mutual blankage :p: I was in even more of a world of my own that usual, since I found out I have a PhD interview at The Other Place three weeks today

Hehehe. I was too happy to be back, and off to the pub to be even vaguely aware of my surroundings. It was only mid-pint that it occurred to me who you were

Oooh. I just found out that King's is New College's sister, which happens to be the college I like the most at Cambridge. Unfortunately I doubt it would get me sneaky access into Nine Lessons and Carols come Christmas Eve. I once considered, albeit not very seriously, faking some sort of disability so that I wouldn't have to queue, but then I remembered my morals.
Just wear your undergraduate gown (when you have one). They won't know you're an Oxen because we all have different gowns here. That lets you skip the queue
    (at least for Evensong)

She'll need to borrow a scholar's gown from someone here - our ordinary gowns don't have sleeves.

What? You mean your gowns don't look anything like ours?

I knew there was some reason we were better

    :vroam:

Does this mean if I wear my gown in Oxford everyone will assume I got a first? :flute:

:gasp: Oh wow! Ok, thanks. Note to self, make friends with clever people who are likely to get firsts/have got firsts or otherwise do really well yourself. :^_^:

You're the spammer, interfering with our complex and important discussion.
Any discussion that puts E&M near the bottom of the list is useless :p:

Who are you calling a spammer?!?!?! :eyeball:

    :ninja: :p:

You're just jealous because E&M ranks low :p:

(P.S. When are you back? Bar now sells Tequila Sunrises, £2.20, is awesome)
    Of course not :p:

If you walk round Oxford in your gown it's more likely everyone will assume you're a bit of a nob. :p:

You can indeed. Though it was my sister's originally and we're both quite short, so if you're tall it may look a bit weird on you

He he. Indeed it might. I'm over 6 feet, so I think it's probably a no go.

Does anyone else think this smiley was made for talk of Oxbridge gowns? :getmecoat:
