College is life is about finding what's best about the college and milking it. Most college lives would get boring after a while, but not Collingwood, because it doesn't offer little variety like some others do.

Result being, there is not just something, but there is somebody for everyone. You will find it quite easy to make friends, across the year groups as well. And there are so many sports teams and groups in the college too.

I love collingwood, because when I think about what's good about it, I instantly link to all the great memories and friends Ive made in Durham all around, its where it all started.

I strongly reccommend it with hesitation, but come and see it if you are unsure. What is it that you like about t'Wood?

Why choose Collingwood, when there's Grey?!:p:

I suppose you're right, that eyesore next door could well be mistaken for cancer. And no one wants to live near cancer.

Well if you want to live somewhere that looks like a council estate then yes....Grey is perfect.:p:

Collingwood is cool so far. There are some really nice people here,I feel I've had loads of help settling in etc.(although still not fully settled,am having a really bad day today:frown:)....the food kind of sucks but it's meant to be the best so I dread to see the other colleges' food.....errr...my room is nice....errr....I like it.

I'm a fan of the gym<3

Also the good workout I get 2 or 3 times each day walking up and down that hill.

Since I've been here I've never looked at/heard about another college and though 'God I wish I was at that college...'

It's got a ****ing awful song, shared accomodation and some right tossers go to it (not you lovely people). But it's alright I guess.

^Oh yes the Collingwood 'song' sucks....seriously,after about three days you will want to gouge your eyes out upon hearing 'Oh Collingwood!'

I was gonna choose Collingwood 'till I heard about Butler! I think it's great - and I'm not even there. That's gotta be a good recommendation? We stayed over at Collingwood on the open day cos Butler wasn't quite finished and it was great. Good choice if that's the one you go with! Hill colleges ftw.

I know, crazy! I did mean to come along but I'm all gooey and spluttery (amazing words) with "man flu" at the minute, however I will be coming along as soon as I'm up to it with SJ who posts here from time to time as well. We had a mini TSR meet-up, all caught on camera - i.e.:

"OMG SJAY!"
"OMG DANFEL!"

It were ace.

But yep, asap! proper excited. When be the next one?

Proobably unofficially on halloween, as whenever I bump into Rach in oodio, its an unofficial meetup. But Im thinking next week at Hound, or the week following.

Does Mildert have a song or does it go along with everyone else in that very very unoriginal song against Hatfield?

Our college song is lovely if we knew the tune to it! "If I could plant a tiny seed of love in the garden of your heart, would you tend for it and let it grow."

Obviously whoever wrote it had been reading a bit too much Romantic poetry!

I'm not that much a fan of Collingwood(apart from the 'wood folks on here, and 'wood folks I've met) because their bar is nowt special, and I remember that back in first year(when I thought college rivalry was more seriously than it actually is) I used to get such a ribbing when I visited my friend in Collingwood, more so than other colleges particularly Mildert.

But I do remember being amazed by my friend's first room in first year with an ensuite, fridge, kettle and hairdryer!!

hmm. i applied to Collingwood but I wasn't able to get a good look at the dorm rooms there. Are there any single/shared ensuite rooms & is it possible to get one as a first year student??

Collingwood was one of the only two Durham colleges I looked at--and I really liked it =)

We do, it starts 'I wana be a Mildert ranger..' but its not exactly sung very often.

We have the same one in Castle, only obviously replace 'Mildert' with 'Castle'....
