Hi, i am an international student that plans to apply for undergraduate mechanical engineering this year. I want to know what advantage is there for someone doing engineering of being at a Russell group universities rather than a university which is not in the Russell group?

It wasn't a factor I considered when choosing a university. My uni Strathclyde is excellent for mech eng but not Russell Group.
The Russell Group are a self selecting crowd anyway.
I looked at Unistats and the course content and went to open days.

Might make a slight difference when looking for jobs internationally as russell groups will tend to be more known, although for places like Surrey or Bath it won't make a difference.
