Hi there im just wondering if someone could help me about getting a apprenticeship?

Im 21 years old, 22 in March , Im unemployed and wanting to take on a Apprenticeship. I have a few questions to ask...

    Can I take a apprenticeship?
    Also will i get paid?

If i did a apprenticeship which is 40 hours a weeks at my NMW wage £6.50 will i get a full wage of 6.50 x 40 = £260 ? And not the Advertising amount which is £109.20?

Thank You, Hope someones replys back,

    good luck

    Hi Ben,

How I got my apprenticeship was, ringing around local electrical firms after a few days of doing this I began to loose hope.
But in the end I called someone. They said they were looking for an apprentice! Did a 2 day trial and got in

It's all about luck and keeping at it I think. As for the wages I think you can forget national minimum wage for a year, if you are doing an apprenticeship. I belive as your skill goes up so does your wages so work hard and it will all pay of!

    Hope this helped Daniel

As posted above, nmw is far lower for first year apprentices that the age group nmw.

£2.73/hr currently, after your first year you should be entitled to the minimum for your age group.
