I was on a job interview on Tuesday and as part of that I was with a firm who went to a store in another town to do some Sales and Marketing. So I was told to answer questions and I had my bag with me. So around the afternoon I went for a coffee with another staff member. Then when I came back I put the bag under this desk stand where I was. An hour later I checked and it wasn't there. So the security guards came in the store and then I had to contact the police etc.

I need some advice now. Would I be able to make the companies liable for this. As they should have asked about locking bags away. After this happened a member of staff think she was the manager told the other two people that they could put their bags in the lift lobby, what was the point in telling us then when it was four hours after we came in.

You could tell them you need to claim off their insurance. Contact them and ask them what the procedure is.

Also - do you have contents insurance? If so, it quite likely covers small items like handbags, briefcases, etc.

I'm not sure any kind of insurance would pay out.

You left your bag in an insecure area and it got pinched.
