What are the best apps?

So I'm getting my first actual serious legit smartphone (Xperia Z1) in a couple of days, and I was thinking of what apps to get. I mean, obviously Facebook, Whatsapp etc., but are there any particularly useful free (or cheap) apps out there that anyone would recommend?

If you find yourself using trains often, National Rail has an app
A banking app could be helpful although I know some people are uncomfortable about banking app security.
If you like your music, Spotify and Youtube are good ones to have if you will use them while on the move.
Dropbox is handy if you like taking pictures, it'll upload the pictures when it can so they are backed up on your dropbox cloud account.
I tend to use wifi more than Data, and since I'm with O2 I can get an O2 Wifi app that automatically connects me to an O2 wifi network when it finds one, and there are quite a few in city centres!
If you want something to pass the time, look for well reviewed offline games like Flow Free: Bridges or 2048 or Hashi Extreme Puzzles. Or an online game to test your knowledge against other people over a vast range of subjects and topics have a look at QuizUp!

Citymapper, Uber, National Rail, Shazam, Spotify. All pretty good apps to downloads in my opinion.

Evernote
Pocket - lets you save webpages to read for later.

Any.Do & Cal - My personal favourite to do list app: although there's loads so try them out and see which ones you like

Morning Routine - Great Alarm CLock which lets you set morning sequences. Like scanning a barcode to stop the alarm

Snapchat
Timehop
That's what comes to mind initially, hope it's useful

The ones I use regularly are:
MyFitnessPal (food and exercise monitoring)
AlienBlue (reddit)
2048 (addictive puzzle game)
TimeHop (for the nostalgia)
And of course there's the TSR app...

Dumb ways - game about dumb ways to die

Talking tom - I mostly use it for the games inside. 2048 and flow free (called connect in talking tom) are both my favourite!
Learn pi
PVSTAR+ - youtube which can play in background
Twilight - f.lux for android
Mycalmbeat - helps with anxiety/panic attacks

Applock
Myfitnesspal
Cardiotrainer
Sleeptime - helps you wake up easily
Colornote - best notepad type of thing I've come across
Dropbox - I use it to access my uni work from my tablet, phone, laptop and uni. It's my life saver!
WPS - best MS Office alternative for tablets in particular. I use it to write notes during lectures and to start/finish my coursework when I'm not at home/away from my laptop.

I think that's it for now.
