I had an AS trip to Bristol university today and a PHD student told us that just keeping your eyes closed was 80% as good as sleeping proper, so for that poster with insomnia take note, as I aside it would still apply

That's weird, did he say why it's 80% as good?

That is untrue my friend, coming from years of unfortunate experience.

I'm not sure if this is true, but I had a rare sleepless night last night. I managed to get two hours sleep from six, but I always feel refreshed whether I get sleep or not. Even if I'm just lying in bed, with my eyes shut, I feel I get relaxed.

So doesn't this suggest that it may be true?

I find this is true. When I'm feeling sleepy on the train, I'll close my eyes and about 10-15 minutes later I open them again and I'll feel more refreshed and awake.
