hey guys!
i am in year 12 at the moment studying
psychology
sociology
english lit
and government and politics

i want to be an English teacher in the future but i dont know what to do now
i have been told that i don't have an English lang gcse but i have an edexcel certificate which i did not know because my previous school did not tell me. I only have a gcse in English lit which i got a B, but now my teacher is telling me that i have to drop English A level and do the gcse english lang and carry on with my other A level. i am doing fine in all my subjects and am predicted As but this is putting me down a lot, what's worse is that my private school did this to me and it's all there fault am in this position

my question is can i still become an English teacher with just an AS in English lit? i am planning to take English as an AS since i can't do it this year but am going to do it in year 13
would universities accept this? for example uni's like kings college, UCL etc

thanks in advance

I think most Universities will want English to A2, but you may also find that some want English Language as well. UCL want a B grade English Language for English. I would suggest that you speak to your teacher about this, and explain to them what you want to do and why you want to carry on with English Lit.

So it would'nt help if i just do it as an AS? the thing is i already have a English certificate which is equivalent to a gcse which i got a B for anyway but my school won't enter me for the exam for English lit A level so i am being forced to drop it and sit the gcse exam which i have no problem doing anyway but since i want to become an English teacher would it be possible for me to go through top uni's with an English lit AS and for A2 psycology, sociology and government and politics plus my english language gcse or would i be rejected?
