Well given that 12pm is the one that's the middle of the day, and 12am is the one that's the middle of the night, I thought this was just a given.

Just saw a discussion on facebook with the people being split down the middle on what they think.

Logically I think 12pm has to be noon.

They sound like the type of people who can't read an analog clock. But its as you stated and as others have 12pm is noon.

pm = post meridiem = after noon. So, 12 pm should be midnight.

am = ante meridiem = before noon. So, 12 am should be, errm, midnight.

Midday is 12 noon. One minute past is 12:01pm.

Midnight is 12 midnight. One minute past is 12:01am.

    Simple and unambiguous

:pain: I'm surprised it needs to be clarified, if you're old enough to use the internet, you should be adept at recognising the time.

In a 24 hour clock there isnt a 12pm or am so it can just be either you want as a 12 hour clock is like an improvisation to make clock reading easier

You might have done so, some of us didn't

The other time question is what day is it at exactly midnight between say Friday and Saturday? Is it still Friday or is it Saturday already?

At one point, the fire service incident recording system refused to recognise midnight - stuff either happened at one minute to or one minute after, but never at midnight itself.
