    The Butterfly
Infest my veins with your shadows
    In melancholy moonlight swimming
In a black ocean with black eyes and a black mind
    Shrouded in mystery without substance
They wonder and search tirelessly for motive
And cause but there is none
There is nothing; hollow like a shell the air is black
    It is smoke;
Charred remains from the burnt out fire
That destroyed the butterfly and the light
Time is but a device to measure
The duration of the darkness as it
Befalls the world to none but I.
Time does not exist yet the clock keeps
Ticking in the hushed silence in which I lay awake
At night with heavy eyes and a rotting heart
Inside my dying body; decaying until finally
The peace will come and the figure at my bedside
Will frighten me no more for I am the night
And I will tear through the fabric of the air
And make my way to every room in your house
Before your light fills my colossal emptiness
With its golden distortion of the world.
