    Hi all,

I have recently voluntarily quit my job, which I know will result in a sanction from JobCenter.

I haven't applied for JSA yet, as I know I wont get it for ~3 months (not 6 because it's a first sanction).

I'd like to know whether I can apply for hardship payment before being sanctioned and disallowed JSA? Or do I have to apply for JSA, get sanctioned, then apply for hardship?

    Thanks everyone!
    - Jack

You need to apply asap. You will be sanctioned from the time you apply, so the sooner you apply the sooner that is over with. If you wait 3 months before applying, you'll probably still be sanctioned - so you could go 6 months without getting anything.

What Juno said is correct. If you are denied JSA and apply for hardship, you won't get anything for the first weeks unless you're in a vulnerable group. (disabled, have a child, etc)
