How to put ON weight

I know lots of people ask how to diet and stuff but I want to put on weight. I think I'm become too skinny since coming to university and it is not attractive to me. And I swear my breasts are shrinking!!! lol.

Advice such as eat a healthy balanced diet I already know. I eat lots of fruit, veg, protein and a fair amount of carbohydrates but it's frustrating.

Any advice?? Someone at my halls said that they thought eating lots of pasta would fatten me up.

Eat a lot more carbs as that would be the healthiest way to put on weight, the food is healthy and if you dont use the energy the carbs give you it turns into fat (or something like that). Pasta, potatoes, cereal, cereal bars, porridge, bread etc.

Still eat fruit and veg but maybe eat an additional small chocolate bar every day (which wont kill you :p:)

Also I dont know what you generally drink, but my mum used to drink glasses and glasses of coke every day, she stopped drinking it (no other diet changes) and lost quite a lot of weight, so maybe if you drank a glass every day it would help? You could also try full fat milk, it has calcium so is good for you, if you use another variety, change it and perhaps drink and extra glass in the morning?

You are not too skinny, but if you really want to put on weight then lots of proteins and carbs in your diet should do it. The route I've gone down to put on weight whilst I've been here (beer and Sangams) is ill-advised.

Yeah I've lost a bit of weight since I came here too (though I like being thinner :P)...

Do you eat 3 square meals a day? I mean I always miss lunch, or have a chocolate bar or something. Have a proper meal if you can. Or make a pasta salad the night before and take it with you!

As Billy Connely put it "Eat more, move less".

I think the best way to put on weight is to eat 3 good meals a day as well as 2 or 3 substantial snacks. This means that you don't have to stuff yourself at meal times and it keeps your blood sugar levels stable. Good snacks are things like:
bowls of cereal (preferably low sugar)
toast with peanut butter
pitta bread and hummus
nuts and seeds
dark chocolate

These things can up your overall calorie intake and aren't too filling.

Unfortunately, if you're anything like me you may not be able to put on weight at all :p:

Drink lots of milk and eat bananas!

Carbohydrates all the way, just stuff anything with high carbs in you shopping basket. Sleep well, and if you can eat just before you go to sleep, you put on more weight while sleeping

It is physiologically impossible to convert fat into muscle.

Oh for crying out loud, you know exactly what I mean. Fat people build muscle faster while thin people tone faster.

A) That's not what you said, and B) while there is a correlation, it's not necessarily always the case.

Also, you mean thin people get defined easier, not "tone", since toning means contracting a muscle, not reducing bodyfat.

I don't like the sound of gainer drinks. And I dont want to tone because I dont need to reduce anything - I need to put weight on!

Thanks to all the above tips though. Carbs seem the way forward.

Does a Subway sanwich count?

I know that when my dad was told he needed to gain weight he was given tablets and told to eat lots of red meats, calcium and white bread/pasta.
Have you been to a doctor or dietician?
Because what you need to eat may depend on whether you want the weight to remain on because it would be more healthy for you, or if it is for something like an operation (which was my dad needed to put on weight).

Best thing would probably be to see a Doctor before you start diet changes though.
