    Hi

I need to apply for finance 15/16 however a bit stuck.

In May I would have lived here 3 years which starting in Sept 2015 would be acceptable however my parents are in Caribbean and we're estranged plus I dont live in London but do live with family. Do i put living outside london and away from parents?

Also for household income, i currently work (only me) but wont be working at the time school starts, do I still put my income or nothing at all.

I know it may seem straight forward but im receiving confliciting information and in need of help.

    Hi there.

If you live outside of London and not with parents then yes, that is what you put. We do not take into consideration students income unless it is from investments, dividends, interest from banks, etc. We do not look at earnings from wages.

If you are estranged from your parents we would ask to see evidence of this to ensure we do not need to take into consideration their income. This is normally a letter from a professional person who is fully aware of your situation. Normally a Doctor, Nurse, Teacher, etc.

    Thanks.

    Thanks!

Will a letter from my current manager be fine as well?

    Hello,

Depending on their position, a letter from your manager may be accepted, but it is up to the assessor if they deem the evidence good enough to class you as independent.

The other option is if you have been financially independent for three years you can just provide evidence of that and we would be able to class you as independent based on that. In that case, three years worth of p60s or payslips would be acceptable.

    Thanks
