Am an international student who wants to pay for ucas. My aunt gave the details of her bank of Scotland visa debit card so i can pay for my ucas but it gives so many errors and now after unblocking myself by calling ucas so many times; i am fed up! It says bank will call her to know whether the transaction is genuine? I never used a debit card before but my friend says she needs to tell bank by calling up and say activate it for a day or so? Is that true? She never used it for on line shopping but her utility bills are paid via it.

Also, here in my home country my family has an account in a local bank; will the bank have the authority to transfer money from this to UCAS's Barclay's account?

THANKS A LOT! HELP PLEASE ITS 12 TOMMORROW!

I'm not sure for the first few questions. But the last one should be yes, right? What local bank are you talking bout by any chance? RBS?

Well it depends, I'm pretty sure the debit cards that are accepted by UCAS are listed in the Pay/Send section of your application. It will probably only list a limited amount of cards, but that has nothing to do with your local bank. I applied from Germany and I paid via Mastercard, and of course my local bank was able to transfer the money to UCAS' bank account. Why wouldn't it be? As long as your parents / anyone you know who'd be willing to give you their card to pay has a debit card that is accepted by UCAS, you should be fine.
