Hello, I am looking in to a career in the RAF as either a Pilot or an Intelligence officer and I was wondering if anyone could give me any information on the application process and aptitude tests.
I am 20 and have a BTEC National Diploma in electronic and electrical engineering .....Grade = Distinction* Distinction. I also have pretty high grades at GCSE level

First, get in contact with an AFCO, make sure that that BTEC is suitable for qualifying you.

Second, search through this forum. There are literally hundreds of threads about the various stages of aptitude testing you can expect to encounter on your way to either role (naturally there are more for pilot, but the tests are basically the same).

    Jack, what Drew said.

Check the RAF careers website for eligibility criteria if you're concerned about your BTEC . Somewhere in there you'll find tables which give the equivalence for various qualifications and acceptability to the RAF. If still unsure, speak to the AFCO.

After that check all the stickies for all the selection and aptitude resources. Once you've ploughed through all that, and the RAF website, then I'm sure people will be happy to answer any specific questions if possible. Bear in mind there are no official RAF recruitment specialists on here.

    Happy researching.

I understand the main bulk of the questions that will be asked during the initial interview. But just wanted to get some solid answers as the best way to go about researching the current affairs (ie. how in depth does my knowledge of each current affair be?) and what aircraft are at what RAF base. Do we need to know all RAF bases or just the abroad ones and the operations at these abroad bases?

Could anyone possibly help me out on some RAF current affairs or websites where I can find some info ?

    Thanks a lot

This website. Read other threads. Loads of good stuff. You'll get help but you will not get spoon fed. Show some initiative, get the basics, then ask questions to fill the gaps. It's what will be expected of you anyway.
