Whats that stuff called that burns off ulcers?

Basically was kissing my gf 2 weeks ago and don't laugh but my lip got a bit stuck in her brace and it hurt when she pulled away, she must have got confused I tried to warn her by pulling her closer but she kept pulling and broke free it ragged. We didn't say anything much after but my lip was bleeding, I didn't tell her and I got a ulcer there last week and its still not gone. It looks a bit swollen but im wondering apart from bonjella is there anything I could put on it? Ive heard theres some old fashioned stuff that burns ulcers off does anyone know what it is??

You can get those little tablets that have some cocaine derivative in them (well, coca plant derivative). Can't remember what it's called, but they numb the area pretty damn well.

It's probably old-fashioned for a reason - anything to do with burning and your skin sounds bad to me.

Was gonna suggest Bonjella but you seem to be using that :p:

Rub salt on it, usually does the trick but stings a little

Salt water really does help, rinse your mouth with it. Or for a more painful (yet much quicker option) listerine works really well. Although it does hurt, a lot at the time, but then it makes my mouth sting using it normally!

Dont know whether these burn off ulcers (cos lets face it that doesn't sound like a good plan) but anbesol gel or lquid will numb it, or adcortyl will help to heel it.

Anbesol liquid will anaesthetise the area quite well, but is short acting. Adcortyl in orobase is quite effective at healing them, but is a bit messy and fiddly. Aloclair mouthwash is quite good, as well as being antiseptic and promoting healing, it also coats them in a layer of stuff which protects them from further damage. I wouldn't recommend bonjela, it always did squat for me, but then I think it's possibly because I enjoyed the taste so much I licked it off. I'm somewhat of an expert when it comes to mouth ulcers, for the two years I had my brace I always had a minimum of five at any given time, and at one point I counted 18 :frown: My mouth still bears the scars :frown:

Fire?

I just nuke my mouth with TCP before I got to bed - when I wake up, I feel no pain! (I feel nothing else, either, but hey, it works).

Eh? An ulcer is when a bit of your mouth is missing (in this case your gf's braces seem to be the culprit), so what use is something going to be if it burns more of your mouth away?

Stick with bonjela, and see a doctor if it gets serious. Btw all ulcers look awful under a strong light so don't get too worried.
