intimidation at uni - afraid and can't cope - please help

hello

im the treasurer of a uni society and i noticed that there was a large amount of cash that the president had said to everyone that she had paid into our account . however i did not see a reciept so i called up the student union and found out that she had only paid part of it in, and had taken the rest of it home with her. i reported this to the student union, and immediately resigned, as i did not know if she had nicked the cash.

in my resignation i gave the full story to all members and the student union. now she is threatening to harm me, abusively phonecalled me and threatening me with defamation. im scared as her fqamily and bf all have criminal records for vioence and stuff, and her bf;'s just out of jail.

in addition, if i do not comply with the stdent union's enquiries, no action can be taken against her for the cash . but i cant handle the stress and work on top of being in a final year.

what do i do? what do you think will happen? im really worried and really cant cope with the pressure

talk to the uni and maybe the authorities about this. out of curiosity, which society?

im not prepared to say in case they read the forum. but lets just say you'd be extremely surprised

ive spoken to the uni but basically if i pull out of assisting them with their enquires they'll just tell her off, but i can't help them as i cant cope with my work and the stress

also i'm too scared of the president coming after me if she gets off. also if she gets off then i look likel ive made it up

If it gets any worse go to the police, forget the union, if your safety is a risk get the police involved!
First and foremost. You obviously did the right thing!

The threatening is a clear sign of guilt, but im sure you already know this

Shes nothing more then a theif and a bully that got caught.

With regard to the abuse i think the best thing to do would be to keep a record of any conversations/phonecalls/texts/run ins to give to the union or police if the Union decides that it was a criminal offence.

Push forwards!!! and Good luck!!!

If she didnt do it, or has a valid reason, then you can always issue an apology in the Uni paper/mag. But like i said the threatening doesnt sound like shes innocent!

Pffft. Try living in Northern Ireland.

Anyway.. I think you should contact the Police mate.. threats can be considered quite serious, especially with the characters involved here.

It's definately a difficult situation.

Good Luck.

but with the threatening phone call, i do not have any proof. and also everyone that heard her say she'll kill me if she sees me and beat me up are all saying they dont want to get involved so i cant prove this either

I take it you're a girl? I'm not being sexist sayin a Male can't be intidated by a Female -- but just wondering.

Definately Contact Police, tell them your story. They should help. Do it now before it gets out of hand.
Your phone should keep a list of numbers that have called you. Keep a log of it. You can always goto the phone company and ask for your phone history. Not entirely sure about this but i remember hearing something on the news a while back about stopping bullys using mobiles to harass their victims.

If those people are friends then they are completely gutless and you should dump 'em ASAP! Can they not send in letters, or give statements to the union asking to remain annonymous in any proceedings?

Were they calls to a mobile phone? I'm sure they can trace the calls, not what was said but the fact calls were made...hence evidence of them calling you so your story has something to stand on.

im a girl and the president is also a girl but she is 7 years older than me and im quiet and shy and shes really loud and now all of her year are ganging up on me and really hate me and im scared. but i dont think it is serious enough gfor the police and if its in uni its a uni matter isntit?

do you think she sholud be asked to resign from the society

yes i have the time of the call on my fone but that doesnt prove what was said. if i get my friends to write letters how will they know i didnt write them all myslf?
my friend said as this president knows im friends with that girl, when she said she'd break my f**ing neck, she said it directly at that girl and so if the SU says we heard you said youll break her f**ing neck from someone, the president will know who it is

About this tracing. I can clear this up for you.

Yes they can. Will they? Proabably not. Phone companies don't want to be seen giving out private details.

The police can - I'm almost sure - make them, in certain serious cases.
I was gonna say you posted without ticking the box! But you sorted it already
In prison.... they would call you a grass and shank you. :P

You did the right thing though. You sure her family is really going to follow this up? Tell her when she calls you, if she wants to be a fool and involve other people, then you will tell the police she is threatening you, and anyone who touches you, will probably end up back in jail.

Try to relax though, it is probably scare tactics to try and get you to not follow it up. Stick to your guns, you will be fine. You were smart enough to take the correct course of action initially.

Personally I would have blackmailed her for a share. My moral compass is broken though.

The fact she called you can cause her to be questioned as to why she is calling you. Which could stand in a court of law.

ssh dont tell anyone who i am!

i think the union can't do anything about her harassment of me unless i have proof and i dont have proof of the threat or call so i dont think they can do anything other than say please dont do it its not nice

Has she got a criminal record? Or was that just her family who has?

If she does anything then she'll go to prison for it.

this is true. i will keep the call record.

i cant sleep and am too sxcared to go to uni. she is really loud and aggressive and swears alot, and im really stressed about this and i do not want to cry in front of them. she says al the society they all hate me because i got them into trouble and today they were saying to my other friend that they want a physcal confrontation. im much smaller as well. and i cant do my studys. im forecast a first as well.
Course not Dave, 22 from Wrexham ... wouldnt dream of it.

Like MJR said, the fact she called you is questionable enough.
