2500 words is apparently the limit, but they will keep reading up to 3000 and you wont get penalised for it.

Yeah, thats what I heard, 3000 is the limit. I am doing OCR and they offer an open-book exam options for those who don't want to do coursework. Anyone doing or considering the open-book exam?

Theres really no point, the coursework is so much more enjoyable, its the best part of the OCR history course.

I'm doing 'To what extent was Germany's objection to the Treaty of Versailles justifiable?'

If anyone else is doing a similar question, maybe we could exchange notes?? :p:

Reply 23

I'm on OCR, A2, doing the personal study. We all got to choose what we wanted, so I am doing the obscure and doing the Salem Witch Trials

Im doing 'to what extent was the impact of the great depression on japan the main reason for Japans attack on the pearl harbour and the commencement of the pacific war.'

a tad long question but who cares

mines 3000 word limit and you cant go over that, not even one word! or something ridiculous like that...

If its OCR then the limit is actually 2500, but they'll allow you to continue to 3000 before they stop reading.

Does anyone else have 'the Nazi's long-term intention was to kill the Jews' (a very bad translation from the Welsh!). I'm really struggling with my word-limit though - 3000. Anyone else here on WJEC too?

Well well well, i didnt think anyone else would have chosen Florence Nightingale! So why did you choose to study Nightingale then? I decided on her because im applying for medicine, and although she was a nurse its kind of related  So whats your question?

Hey Benighted, Sorry about that late reply! I haven't checked this forum in ages! I just thought Flo looked like an interesting character! I'm not applying to do med or anything... Tis a good idea though. It's related - my friend did a project on Flo before she went to Cambridge to study medicine. Not sure if it was for A level though. What is your question?

Hey, that's what I wanted to do!! But I couldn't find a suitable question so I changed to the English Civil War instead. Which is still interesting but I know much more about Salem

i'm doing 'to what extent were privileges and privileged groups responsible for the overthrow of the French absolute monarchy in 1789?'
On AQA & can go up to 3500 BUT does anyone know whether quotes are included in this or not?

Reply 33

Does anybody else use that thing the exam boards offer (not sure if it's all of them) where you can send your prefered question off and they'll give you advise about it, suggest changes and reading materials and stuff??

Reply 34

I did

Mine is "How valid is the judgement that the myth surrounding FN exaggerates her achievements during and after the Crimean War"

Or something like that!! Does it sound ok to you? How much work have you done on it so far?

I'm finding it difficult to get going... I need to do a lot more reading before I get started.

Reply 36

Yep, I got mine back the other day. He seemed quite nice... Made a few changes though

I'm doing OCR. I've done lots of research which got sidetracked by current work. Probably going to do a causal question

An interesting question but I must disagree with the premise of it; there was no 'French absolute monarchy', not even under Louis XIV.

Can I ask how long term your approach to this is? The undermining of the power of the monarchs of France really starts in the reign of Louis XIV, the French Revolution was the product of the culmination of a century of developments, it didn't spring out of nowhere.
