Internal examination...problems...

Went to the GUM t'other day as I've been getting pain while having sex and so they said it was best to do an internal exam to just check that straight away, they did that and all the swabs came back negative abut they've sent more off to test for PID and PCOS...but the main problem I have is that i'm still (sorry this isn't too pleasant) bleeding after it and it was on tuesday that I went in.....is this normal? I just don't want to waste a dr's time by going back to the hospital but at the same time it's playing on my mind (and hurts)

What sort of bleeding is it, is it quite heavy or spotting? If its spotting, I wouldnt worry too much, its probably just from the examination. If its heavy then you really need to see someone. Also, what sort of pain is it, is it internal or are you sore 'down below'? Have you had sex at all since the examination?

No not had sex at all...bit worried about that really...Going thought a sanitary towel or two every day...so it's not loads...but I'm not due my period for 3weeks so it's completely unexpected.
The pain is like...in line with my hips like something is out of place or there's pressure being put on it...i can't really explain it very well, not something i've had before!

I dont really know what it could be sorry, leave it until Monday and then if you are still in pain/bleeding, you should go back to your GP. Ive had internal examinations and didnt get any pain or bleeding after, it might be that the pain is being caused by something else and not necessarily the examination.

Sorry I cant be of more help, hope you feel better soon!

well this all started at the GUM...so I thought as they have all the notes and tests on file there it would be easier...and my gp gets booked up by 9am so I don't want to be a pain to them. It's like bad period pain, I doubt it's something they've done, more that they've shown what is a problem if that makes sense?

it might be an idea to let them know you're experiencing random bleeding, especially if you're not going back to see them for a bit, it might help them identify the problem

A bit of spotting is normal when you have an internal but generally its just a small amount and lasts about an hour. If it doesn't stop soon phone the clinic and tell them. Its probably a better option then going to your GP.
