I hate my voice as well, apparently, it's really high-pitched. To me when I speak it sounds normal and quite low, but then when I hear my voice if its been recorded or something its like

I hate my voice too...apparently my singing is sexy cos its deep (I think I put the voice on)...but my normal voice sounds young and not as deep. Although not high pitched...

Reply 3

I don't like my voice. But apparently it sounds nice when I speak French, so I guess there are tradeoffs.

whenever im in a club or loud music is on, no one can ever hear a word i'm saying. socialising in a club with loud music on the speakers, most people can still conduct some kind of a conversation. i can not and it really ANNOYS me. i really hate my voice. its so grating and deep

Augh- I know what you mean; I absolutely hate my voice. What makes it worse is when we do orals at school for languages. I take both French and German for GCSE, which generate quite a few orals in total and they record them all.. when you hear yourself on the practice ones afterwards.. aughh it's horrible. :p:

I don't think there is a great deal you can do to alter the way your voice sounds, as I assume it's determined by your body and primarily the length of your vocal cords. Men generally have longer vocal cords and this makes the pitch lower. Your tone is also affected by the vocal folds, in combination with the teeth, the tongue, and the lips. So it's pretty hard to change I think.

Most people are sensitive about their voices- especially when they hear it played back to them for the first time, i.e. on an answering phone. But most people don't even consider other people's voices, so I wouldn't worry.

I have a very high pitched voice :frown:

On the plus sde when I get mad and scream at least people listen!

To get back to being helpful, rather than people going "oh my voice is rubbish :frown:" - often you will find that it's not just your voice but the way you project it that has an effect on how you sound. You could stand at the back of a large hall and shout, but if you don't "project your voice", no one will hear you. Then again you could stand at the back of the same hall and speak normally, "projecting your voice", and everyone would hear you. It's sometimes described as the difference between speaking from the throat (quiet, and also dangerous for your vocal chords if you're shouting) and speaking from your stomach. Sounds strange, but try it - speak from your stomach, it's not easy to explain, but you'll feel it in your stomach when you're doing it right. Then you don't need to shout - the words simply come out more audibly.

A lot hate their voice when they hear it through a recording.

Move to another part of the country, develop a different accent and see if you a notice a change in your voice

Also eat a lot of honey regularly - helps the tongue in speech

Clean your teeth PROPER - improved speech because your mouth is fresh

Maybe we should all use sign language....

Exactly with me! I always thought I had a low voice, but when I recorded it, I had a pretty high voice. I don't think a lot of people like their voices. It just goes to show you that no one really is content with themselves 100%.

Reply 15

I don't like my voice either. It's deeper then the one I hear myself.

Guess being used to your own voice has this effect.

Reply 16
