It seems even doing other hobbies, my obsession with gender studies lingers.

Is this in real life or is it fantasy?* I would love to have a relationship like WALL-E and EVE; a supplicating beta male robot with low self-esteem pledging his undying affections for the strong, independent alpha female robot of his dreams, and winning her heart over in turn. White Knight Extraordinaire

Does this incredibly non-heteronormative dynamic** even happen in reality, or is this part of the depressing Disney fairy-tale re-enforcing princess mentality? It is important that my affections are not met in vain if I am to be so submissive and doting to my lover after all

Do you think that any undergrad cultural studies courses discusses such issues or is it just me?

    *Inb4 cue Bohemian Rhapsody

**I have heard a fabricated rumour that Frozen's Olaf was meant to be the first gay character in mainstream Disney mythology; a progressive move! Various dissertations online dissect songs such as 'Let It Go' as about being coming out, a bit of a stereotype a la Wicked but possible. I'd like to see a Disney film where both main characters are gay or lesbian, but I fear this would not pass U rating for bizarre cultural reasons/ongoing homophobia…why a man kissing a woman is a U but a man kissing a man or a woman kissing a woman would be PG/12A is beyond me but I sense this would happen. Sad and somewhat wrong but true.

On another note, the film hit all the right feels. Stunning visuals, loved the Fallout-esque setup and music (the film came out before Fallout 3 I believe?), nice philosophical and ecological dilllemas 8.5-9/10, adding to Smash's Film 2015 tonight!

edit: tbh I've not seen it yet lol, but I heard among the dissections of it that he was meant to be

even if this isn't applicable I would still like to see them have 2 leading LGBT characters-the Disney Renaissance was basically full of feminist takes on fairytales so being more LGBT-inclusive would be the next progressive step

ive seen the film like 1 and a half times (wasn't really a fan) and all I took from it was that he was an excitable snowman.

if you look elsewhere than disney it's slightly better, the legend of Korra just ended with 2 canon bisexual girls ending up together which was awesome

I do hope for gay disney princesses but I don't expect it to happen very soon
