filling out my driving license application and epilepsy

so, I am filling out my driving license form and it asks me if I have had epilepsy, I do believe I used to have it when I was very young but I can not totally remember it as I was too young, if I say I did have it I have to fill out another form which I would have to go to my doctors to get all the information for. My mum said maybe just say I've never had it but do you think it would be a good idea if I went to my doctor just to see what he thinks and get all the information about it? I can't say I know much about how serious it might be if I did simply say no.

If you are planning to drive anywhere near the vicinity of Milton keynes then i would recommend you go to the doctors.

Declare it! Better safe than sorry, you don't want to put other people at risk. Anyway, it would be illegal not to.

You could go to your doctor first just to ask for an opinion.
I have a condition which doesn't really affect me anymore ,(except if I was in an accident) but I put it on my form because I never know if I'll have a problem. Then, the DVLA sent me a medical form to fill out and a few months after that I had to pay my doctor a visit so she could do some tests and fill out another form.

I think doctors are obliged to inform the DVLA if someone has epilepsy.

Fill out a japanese driving liscense online, if you have a seizure you suffer from epilepsy

I guess that your insurance would not pay if you had an accident due to an epileptic fit and had not mentioned that you were an epileptic.

Many people do have sort of epileptic fits when they are very young and have a temperature, so called "fever cramps". They outgrow them. Maybe you had that? That is not the same as epilepsy.

Reply 7

erm have you had any fits anytime recently?
if not theres no harm in not putting it down, but is there a harm in stating that you have epilepsy..?

My friend has epilepsy and still drives, she has a disabled sticker for it too.

You need the EP1 form or something like that. You can get it off www.DVLA.org or .gov or something.

If you did have epilepsy, you need neurologist's letters, assesments and GP letters to prove you are no longer A) On anticonvulsants B) Been seizure free (any type) for over 3 years C) Are no longer under care for this condition.

DO NOT LIE. IT IS AGAINST THE LAW AND YOU CAN FACE AN UNLIMITED FINE. ALSO, IF YOU HAVE A SEIZURE WHILST DRIVING AND YOU KILL SOMEONE YOU WILL BE IN JAIL AND FINED.

Declare it please!!!!!!

They're right. I suffered a siezure a couple of weeks back and for a while everyone thought it might have been epilepsy (there is a history of it in my family so the risk is there). It turned out not to be but we checked out some of the risks and driving is a big NO if you have it. You HAVE to declare it or you will get into deep trouble with the law.

If you're not sure whether you have the condition or not, check it out with your doctor and check your family history about the condition.
