I've been considering commuting from Leeds to Liverpool next year for my third year of uni and it's got to the point where I really need to make my mind up because my friends are trying to sort out accommodation. I've worked out how much I would save and it is more than half than what I'm paying on rent, even with the most expensive option and including transport costs of travelling to the station. I don't really go out that much so I'm not really that bothered about the student lifestyle and where I work allows me to transfer between restaurants in Leeds and Liverpool anyway. It would be a lot of time travelling but I think I'd use this time to get some work done instead of coming home and watching netflix! Does anyone commute that can give me some advice to help me make my mind up? Thanks in advance

That's an insane commute  How long will it take?

Also depends on how much contact there is with your course. Turning up to lectures and doing a lab based project meant I was in uni at least 4 times a week.

Also the trains are genral terrible from Liverpool to Manchester. During rush hour you are lucky to get a seat, never mind doing work.

I think you need to think hard about this - like the above poster said, during rush hour you are more than likely gonna end up stood up or cramped in a seat. Very unlikely you will be able to do work on the train

It does seem insane doesn't it! I wouldn't think about it but due to family issues and stuff I think it would be better for me to be at home. I have looked into transferring uni but I don't think my A level grades would be good enough, so commuting seemed the next best thing. However I have got a meeting tomorrow with someone from uni so I am going to see if they have any advice on transferring. Right now it's just an annoying situation!
