I've done several instruments and have achieved grade 8 and if you pass the exam (pass, merit or distinction) you get ucas points. I've got roughly 180 ucas points from my music achievements. In the future when I apply to uni, will X uni take my music achievements into consideration? E.g. add the 180 ucas points onto my actual academic ucas points? Why would / wouldn't they add it on?

What university courses are you looking at doing? They might not add it on as there entry requirements are xxx points from 3 A-levels/IB/etc.

Best place to look would be the universities department for if they will accept it or not. With so many universities and so many departments being different it means that unfortunately it is very hard to give speculative advice. However, in all likelihood, unless it is a degree that involves music then they won't include it in their offer but it can still help you get the offer as you are a more versatile person with other interests.
