The Clinton administration shared US military secrets with China, it refused equipment to US soldiers in the field, it raised taxes, it try and failed to get congress to adopt left wing treaties like the ICC and Kyoto and it gave much more support to multi-lateralism than any recent US administration in the past 20 years. In conclusion, it was liberal!
And it put a ban on fully automatic assault rifles. Fortunately, I think it will be lifted pretty soon.

    Fortunately?

What use would you have for one of those? Apart from the obvious and illegal

    Legal actually. Home protection.

I already have one but it's semi automatic which is a bloody nuisance. It annoys me having to squeeze the trigger every time I want a bullet to project from the muzzle. Laziness really.

I don't think so. If you have a bit of cash handy you can buy a 50mm calibre snipers rifle which will pierce armor plate and will comfortably pick off the opposition at 2 miles. It's even programmable with a little computer attached to it than uses satelite technology/GSD to ensure pinpoint accuracy and even make allowance with wind etc.

Freely available in Florida for between $8k and $12k.

But, Florida is very free with it's gun laws.

Surely, youll only need a semi for most home protection issues - not expecting a car full of armed men to turn up I would have thought.

And to think if you shot an intruder in england, you'd get put away!

If I defend my self here and blow someone away, I'd probably be positively mentioned in the local rag. That's the difference.

Yep, you ever read about the Tony Martin case over here. He had been robbed many time before and fired a shotgun at the intruders. It killed an 18 year old bloke and Tony Martin got convicted of manslaughter. The other intruder is now trying to sue him for damages!
    Utterly ridiculous

Well, in truth, I don't have that much sympathy with Mr.Martin. Even in the US, if you shoot someone in the back as they are leaving the premises you'll have a tough time explaining that to the Sherriff's Dept.

I was actually advised once to shoot in the front and in the head because,

    a) The guy is definately dead mutton
    b) He can't recover and sue you
    c) A front shooting gives you a self defence alibi.

if im going to be taxed to the hilt, swamped by immigrants and deprived of any rights id rather do it in Paris than Britain. our trains run on time and i dont have to wait 6 months for a medical.

youre not following the 9/11 inquiry are you?

    er, no.

    socialism, communism ring a bell?
I was not the one to bring up 9/11 so don't ask me.

Do you want to prove that, my prove is that Stalin and Hilter killed vast numbers of people on the Eastern front of the 2nd world war and they had views from the oposite side of the political spectrum.

oh god another pro-suicide bombing, one-book, i love the idea of being a revolutionary, che loving loony.
Some of us read more than one newspaper, so get a broad view on the conflict. Both Palestians and the Israeli's have done things that have escalated the conflict and if you do not believe that then I am afraid you are very much among the minortiy.

where did i criticise you? ok, you mean others in general. of course, comments such as those u disagree with are to the extremity that its probably not worth making any point in countering them. on the other hand, responses to which have replied are both genuine and threaten to appear as corrective of the original post, when, in my eyes, they have no greater value. ie. i dont care for the first, the second i find dangerous.
dangerous because it affects your isolated view of the world? well I am sorry Vienna

And stop trying to make everyone equal!

Life is diverse. It flourishes on differences. We are all different, all NOT equal. To try to make everyone equal is to hate life, to hate mankind. It is nihilism.

Christianity, the Mother of Communism, first introduced this twisted concept of equality of souls. The same spirit of resentment that fuelled the early Christians to burn Rome, and drove the Bolsheviks in Russia, is the same spirit working in you.
Society should look after those who cannot have the oppertunities due to illness/sickness. Thus society should provide for them. This is not about making everyone equal its about providing basic provisions for those without. This results in a better country. See Rowntrees' report on poverty at the start of the 20th century. This led to the introduction of old age pensions and benifits for the poor. This made the country a better place.
