Last year I did 2 IGCSEs - Geography and History.

Every year, the grade boundaries for Geography are about 45% for a C, whereas in History you need about 55% for a C. Why is this? Is it because Geography is one big 3-hour exam whereas History is 2 separate 1 hour 30 minutes exams?

People most overall do better in the history exam so they increase grade boundaries to ensure similar percentages of students get certain grades

Yes but why do they do better? Is it because Geography is one big 3-hour exam whereas History is 2 separate 1 hour 30 minutes exams? Would that be a factor?

It could be down to lots of things, maybe the questions are slightly easier, maybe it's easier to get marks, the length of the paper, the content etc.
