Large Insect Bite/Large spot!

I've been away in Italy since Monday on half term holiday with family, and returned last night after waiting at the airport there a bit longer than had to because we arrived to early for check in.

Anyway, whilst we were waiting for check in, outside, because it hadn't opened yet (check in), outside the terminal, we were sitting with luggage etc. and there were several mosquitos flying about.

I thought I would be fine because arms were covered but it seems I was bitten by one of the buggers on my hand!!!!

I started itching this while we were checking in and it was only once we were in the plane that it became large, and I wasn't itching it or anything by this stage.
Then last night when got home, put some 'Germoline' cream on it and it was massive, I mean massive and this morning it is the same, theres a massive bump on my hand on right hand side of right hand and the actual spot is tiny but its all inflamed around it!

I am now putting 'Witch Hazel' Cream on it but its not doing anything I hope it goes by Monday!

Any suggestions on what to do or what creams to use!?

I have included a picture for those of you brave enough to have a peek lol.

When I got bitten by a mosquito on my hands, it took like 2 weeks for the bite marks to go away :frown:

its a mosquito bite =\ just leave it a few days, if it goes, then nothing serious, if not then get it checked out by GP.

Thanks for replies

It hasn't really changed at all today, I have applied Germoline twice, Witch Hazel twice and then Clearasil twice! :p:

And I have just this second started dabbing it with cotton wool with a bit of 'natural anasthetic' on it!

I really want it to go away, I have had bites before but they go within a day or less and this has been on my hand for a whole 24 hours now! :frown:

Its still swollen in a circular shape, sorry the photo is not that clear but the actual spot, or bite is towards the end of my hand and the swelling is covering nearly half of my right hand!

Any more suggestions would be appreciated I don't want this to get infected or anything possibly worse.

Eurax cream's really good.

Just what I was going to say!

Get Eurax on it, and take anti-histamine tablets, and if it doesn't go down, go to your GP.

If it doesnt go down, then see a doctor, and if it iches aftershave works well to stop it.

to be honest i went abroad over the summer and ended up covered in mozzie bites - i tried every cream and zappy thing under the sun but they never stopped itching and took nearly two weeks to go down. You might just have to hang on in there and hope for the best. I sympathise *hugs*

This is the ONE and only mozzie bite I got this week and all because we got to the airport too early!

I never knew a single bite would swell up my hand like this it is still as bad as last night and it doesn't sting but just feels like a weight on my hand, thankfully I'm not right handed :p: so won't be a problem.

Its still swollen and its red where it is, lumpy also and goes right down to right hand side of my right hand it looks awful!

Thank you for all the suggestions, might need the Eurax cream that has been mentioned, nothing I have put on it has made the slightest difference. :frown:
