Hi guys and girls!
I'm a 2nd year student nurse studying in Kent, living in Essex.
To get onto the nursing course I completed a Health and Social CareDiploma at college and gained experience as a HCA. I completed a moving andhandling training course while at college and between college and uni I workedas a HCA for a care home in Essex.
My cousin works for a company in Brentwood called AthonaRecruitment and because of my experience as a HCA I was able to work shifts in CareHomes/Hospital Wards alongside my degree.
This may not be of any use to you if you’re looking for asales assistant job but it can work in your favour to show that you’re workingin a care setting outside of uni.
The pay was good, depending on the shift, I was paid between£9-14 per hour and could choose where/when I wanted to work.
I had HCA experience already so if you’re considering it I’dsuggest googling the company and speaking to one of the staff there and theycan let you know what you’d need to work as a HCA.
They also recruit for nurses so if you’re about to graduatethey can also help!
The pay was really good which was a blessing as I didn’ttake out a loan and tried to live off of my bursary!
Hope this helps
