swallowed part of tongue bar!!

this is gonna sound incredibly stupid but i was just eating and the ball part of my tongue bar came off and i swallowed it, i dunno what to do! i cant keep the bar in without the ball part because its gonna fall out and i'll swallow it too  also even though i got my tongue done over a year ago i havent got any spare tongue bars.. If I take it out till I can get another bar it's gonna heal up isn't it? I had my belly pierced for 4 years, took the bar out and it healed up in a day  I tried to bring my food back up to salvage the ball bit but I cant make myself be sick.. What do I do??

Tongues don't "heal" as in won't close up. Cos your mouth's so wet. So yes, it will heal. Within an hour i'd say

Eat lots of fibre and/or take laxitives and poo it out.

buy a new one lol.

Remove it and let it heal, they look disgusting. It's possibly the least attractive thing ever to have a metal spike shoved into you.

People swallow tongue bars all the time- you really do need some for emergencies as youve just found out! You need to get another ball tomorrow, although saying that, im not sure how safe it would be to sleep in just half of it. Do you have any friends or anyone you could call who has theirs done?

Im just gonna take it out.. dont want to but meh if Im gonna risk swallowing a piece of metal every time I eat, it's not worth having it in :frown: and Ive had my fair use if it lol

Don't take it out unless theres no other way! you dont seem to want to. Plus if you decide to have it repierced you wont be able to have it done in teh same place again and it would feel weird coz it would be in the wrong place

As long as they're the same size, yes

hmm but I cant get to a shop till tuesday (no transport tomorrow, extremely busy day on monday and no way of getting there anyway) also the only person I know who lives nearby and has it done.. is away on holiday :frown:

mehh silly me forgot the anon function

anyways gonna take it out cos mum never liked it anyway she'll be pleased i'm taking it out after months of telling me to

edit: ok took it out and umm my tongue feels "normal" hmm in a good way- I dont miss having the bar there

Get someone to kick you in the kidney, it won't bring back the tongue bar but it'll make you forget what the problem was in the first place.

i'll be absolutely honest with you, this has happened to me plenty of times, and i have gone to bed overnight without anything through my tongue and its been absolutely fine with no sign of healing. other than just taking the risk you could try what i have done and that is pushing the back of a stud through the actual bar to see if that can keep it on. what i mean is on normal studs for earings they have two loops and one of the loops managed to fit my tongue bar and i have had this in overnight before i knew that it wouldnt heal.

you could try blu tak if you have any - i used it when i lost my belly button ball and i use it when my braces are rubbing and it stays on

That, my dear, is personal opinion. It also wasnt what the OP wanted to hear.

To the OP : If its 1.6mm gauge (most likely) it is probably the same gauge as the barbell in your navel. If it is, stick this ball on the end of it.

EDIT : Noo! You shouldnt have retired it....

Reply 17

poo it out. put it back in.

next?

I already suggested that, but no takers.

Correct, it's my personal opinion. The OP has, however, already said it would be dangerous to sleep with it and that if they removed it it would heal over but that there was no chance of getting the ball for the end of it that night, so really, there was no question.
