I'm aware that birmingham uni does not accept resitting an exam if you apply for medicine, but is that the case if you're applying for a2b scheme? I want to resit my biology unit 1 exam this may but im not sure if im allowed. By that i mean still completing qualification in 2 years

As far as I can tell Birmingham's issue with resits (for the normal medicine course) is that they will not accept a 3rd year taken to complete A-levels, they do not say anything about resitting an AS module so you are probably fine, especially as a2b may be more lenient (I'm only guessing about that though as I don't know much about the a2b scheme).
If you are concerned about this then the best thing would be to give them a call, but most med schools, even the ones strictest about resits, are usually fine with resitting just one unit per subject within the normal 2 years.
