1. A vector equation for a straight line is r=(4,7) + λ(1,-2)
The line intersects a circle that has centre (0,0) and radius 5root2. Find the coordinates of the points of intersection?

Draw a sketch - that usually helps. You might want to shift everything into Cartesian coordinates.

I have but i just dont know what to do can you give me the first few steps so that i'll be able to do the rest thats hopefully what i need...
4. The equation of the circle is x^2+y^2=50, and for the line, you have x=4+p (read, lambda) and y=7-2p. Substitute these values in the eqn. of the circle and solve the resulting quadratic in p(lambda)
