    Hello,

I am currently taking out student finance for this year. I have a couple of questions:
    1) My Dad is now unemployed, but I don't want my maintenance to increase, just stay how it is. Do I still have to let student finance know about this?
    2) If I get a part-time job with a salary do I have to let student finance know?

    Many thanks for your help!

    Hi there.

We won't require this years income information until the 16/17 academic year, as we always look at the tax year two years prior. So there would be no changes unless you filled in a 'Current Year Income' form and gave us his earnings in the current year instead of the 12/13 which you would have already given.

It is worthwhile submitting the form as you may be eligible for a higher rate of grant which is non repayable. If you do not want any increase to your loan then you can simply submit a maintenance loan request form ans ask for a specific amount of loan, rather than the maximum available to you.

We do not take into consideration any earnings in terms of salary from students while they are at study.

    Thanks
