FHM and the family

I love reading FHM (not just for the girls I assure you, but they help :p: ).

The thing is my parents are very strict and I THINK they would not approve, so at the moment I am keeping it a secret, even though I buy it every month.

I'm nearly 18, for goodness sake!

I'm really stuck as I don't like keeping secrets from my family so I was wondering whether I should come clean or whether that would just unleash hell. :frown: :frown: :frown:

I don't even know why I'm writing this, you guys can't help me much.

it's really only a magazine, why do you feel the need to tell them?

Why do you think they would not approve?

The 'women as objects' issue?

Reply 3

Why do they need to know?

Reply 4

you are 17 for christ sake, i first started buying FHM when I was 13 and I read it far more then than I do now!

why wouldn't they approve, surely your dad was your age once

Reply 5

My dad started stealing my FHMs when I was about 15 after I'd finished reading them.

At the end of the day it's not exactly like they're pornographic or anything, they're just blokes' mags.

Also, I would suggest Maxim as well as FHM. I personally think it's a lot funnier, but both are great reads.

Are they asian parents or something? And read something proper ffs

Because I remember once when my mum saw a newspaper article which had a picture of women in tight vests with large breasts, and was talking about how looking at womens' breasts gets men's hearts beating and makes them 3 times less likely to get a heart-related disease, in my funny pictures section on my PC, and said it looked like porn, and seemed upset. FHM has a few topless women in.

FHM isnt bad....when we ran out of girls mags when i was in africa we nicked the guys FHM and didnt find it too offensive. Why do you need to tell your parents anyway?

Reply 9

Well, surely 'lad's mags' are a lot tamer (in terms of the nudie lady pictures ) than top-shelf porn mags. As long as you're of a certain age, I don't think most parents should object.

Reply 10

Its not whether they should object, its whether they will or not. That is what is biting me.

Reply 11

Don't you look at porn? I'm pretty sure no-one feels an urge to discuss their viewing of porn with their parents so I don't see why this is any different, just keep reading it and come to us once they find it under your mattress.

PS You better not be bashing one out at softcore stuff liek FHM :nn:

Reply 12

I dont think they will - its natural. Besides they're just jealous they diddnt have it  personally I suggest NUTS....they're not exactly porn.

Reply 13

I'm sorry but Nuts and Zoo take the piss, they are just pure topless women, I can at least see something in FHM and Maxim as they have some actual writing in but Nuts and Zoo are for those too short to reach the top shelf.

I did mean to say 'will object', sorry.

Well actually, I think Nuts and ZOO are even worse than FHM and Maxim. A lot of the women I've seen in the latter aren't even topless!

Just leave your FHM magazine laying around, and if they come across it then so be it. Then you wouldn't officially be 'hiding' anything.

I'd recommend Arena though, much better. And less sex.

the thing is, your family will blates know that if you buy FHM your probably masturbating over it. Which isnt a nice thought

I once bought Esquire, expecting a short story (Raymond Carver, Hemingway, Updike - they've all been published in Esquire) and good film reviews; instead, I get a few crappy topless photos, 100 pages of over-priced fashion crap and articles about as interesting and informative as a kick in the balls. From what I understand, FHM is an even lower brow version of Esquire, and Nuts is for people who are too thick for FHM. What on earth do you see in it?

Reply 18

Bloody hell, you little wuffter, it's only a magazine. Either tell them or keep it a secret.

Reply 19

I've never once bought a 'lads mag'. They are total crap, a few half dressed girls and some poor excuses for stories usually about E-List celebs. If i want porn, ive got the damn internet!
