I'm currently living in Victoria Hall in Glasgow but need to move back home due to mental health issues at the advice of a university councillor I've been seeing via student support. Moving home will hopefully mean that I can continue at university and don't need to drop out (I am able to commute to university but living in accommodation close by was far more convenient), however Victoria Halls makes you enter a 42 week contract with them and paying it becomes your responsibility unless you find someone to take over the contract for you. Financially I can't afford to pay the rent whilst living at home and cant be waiting around and paying without knowing if I will ever find someone to take over my contract. I never saw these problems coming and had every intention of staying out the entire contract, so these circumstances are very unfortunate and frustrating. Does anyone know if there's any help or solutions for this kind of thing, maybe specifically for people with mental/general health problems?

I've been in a similar situation at Warwick, mental health issues and moving back home. I had to get a full time job in the end because they wouldn't let me out of the contract. But since then I've found loads of ways to find someone to fill the room - does Glasgow accomodation offer readvertising your room? Otherwise craigslist can be quite effective, and posting on here! Also try posting in uni facebook groups. It does take effort and motivation though which is was really not my strong point when i took time out of uni!
It really sucks that there isn't more provision for people who have mental health problems, if you ever want a chat about things, just holla
