Orchestra - yes there is one

Do you have to audition? No you don't

But there are orchestras for the musical and other events for which you DO have to audition

Person who plays the flute - Trevs has a flute orchestra!

But I'm not musical so I don't know any more than that!

Formals - every fortnight, formal as in guys wear suit with shirt and tie (not tuxedo style, just usual suit), girls wear "smart clothes" which can just be a smart top and smart trousers/skirt, no need for ball gowns at formals. No denim, trainers, etc.

Yes we wear gowns, you HAVE to buy one on your first day here, we sell them in college, get here early and you'll get a 2nd hand one for cheap! They are just regular black gowns, and you'll learn to love them!

No way?! You are officially the first person I've come across! Be honoured! If I never have to number cadences again it'll be too soon. Haha. x

Really? Cool  Unfortunately, I still have to do aural in A2 music...stuff like "name this chord", "name this cadence" within the context of a piece :frown:

Yay for there being an orchestra and no audition - but it would be cool to get in to play in musicals.

Oh yes, thanks I know, one of the reasons why I chose Trevs, the flute choir.

I played pool against Trevs the other day. Their C team is 3rd in the league! (We are talking second division here, but first division is and will always be a stranger to me.) They trounced us. Never mind, we have cool stash.

P.S. Dobbs, aren't you chair of the shop or something? I love that it sells ice creams. Ice creams made me love Trevs.

Reply 63

mmmm ice creams:biggrin:

I am just gonna live in the Buttery next year. Trevs' profits will go through the roof

Yes. Yes I am

And I was working on Sunday night on the toastie bar when Trevs were against Hild Bede at the pool table....why didn't you come and say hello if you were there?!?! :frown: :p:

I've met so many people from TSR whilst working on the toastie bar - it's fun!

I saw you at Pennants on Sunday. Your voice sounded different from how I thought it would.

Hmm, that sounds a bit creepy, doesn't it?

They have geographers in, any team with geographers in is cool in my book.

And we all know that it's my opinion that matters.

Indeed, except that I hate geography and have to restrain myself from throwing holy water over geographers every time I see them in order to "save" them.

Dobbs, I didn't know you were working or I would have said hi! I even went in there to get change for my laundry. AND I was wearing pink pool stash with "Jelkin" on the front.

Is this some form of latent jealousy over a discipline with relevance to the real world?

Sorry, just cos you know about tectonic plates and stuff it still doesn't make it 'relevant'!

Ew, physical geography. That's the preserve of other geographers (anyone who's not me). I was referring to relevant in the sense of having directly applicable techniques and knowledge to a number of real world policy solutions.

Errr, yes, that does sound creepy!! How did you hear my voice? Was it when I was shouting at any of my girls whilst they were racing...or were you listening in to one of my conversations???

Jelkin - Gutted! I would pay more attention to people in the shop, but I tend to have to watch the toasties!

And anyway, don't mock geographers....you can mock GEOGRAPHY but not geographers. Most of us realise half way through our 3rd year that geography is pretty pants, haha!! I had a conversation for a while with a fellow geographer in the library today about how geography is pretty poo compared to back in the day of A-levels! :frown:

You know when you always convince yourself that Uni should be better than Sixth Form/College because you'll be concentrating on one subject? Well in geog that's definitely not true...IT'S ALL BLOODY DIFFERENT!!!

ahem...sorry...trying to finish an essay that is annoying me
