I was wondering, if I got a phone contract with a gift e.g. Console, tv etc, how would it work? Can't the person just stop paying the contract and keep the gift? Don't understand the logic there.

That's the definition of a contract, you've signed it so you're tied into paying. :curious:

You're signing a contract stating you will pay X amount for Y amount of months, hence the name contract. The logic is that the value of said contract will be enough for the provider to cover the cost of the handset, "gift", phone plan and make profit.

Also, every one of these deals I've seen has been a terrible rip off, you'll save a fair amount of money by buying the phone and the gift separately.
