No idea I'm afraid but I do know that drinking loads of water every day really helps sore throats. Must go to doctor but should make things more comfortable in the meantime.

Reccurent chronic tonsilitis or bad adenoids? It might even be thrush.

They need to go to GP anyway cos it's been going on more than 2 months, they'll get some antibiotics of some sort and it'll clear up in a week.
You have leprosy and will die within a week.

On a serious note, no one here is qualified to give you a diagnosis, the person needs to go see the doctor. in the mean time try gargling with soluble asprin or sucking lozenges to aleviate the pain.

We are not doctors. I have no medical training at all. Any medical advice or theories that I present you with will be pulled from a website. Or personal experience, which is honestly quite limited. For example, I could tell you that I have a sore throat at the moment and it feels like there is a lump in my throat when I swallow (true btw). This, however, is not the same as your situation.

In short, look it up on the web. If you can't find anything, call the NHS helpline. If they can't help or what you find on the web is not helpful or positive, tell your friend to book a doctors appointment.

Because seriously, for all we know it could be throat cancer or a chest infection or thrush or leprosy or simply a sore throat.

Doctors are there for a reason.

Just wait til they go to the GP - it's no good getting people to try and diagnose.

Not the best of ideas, asking a student forum for medical diagnosis, instead of your doctor

Sounds like a bacterial infection. I reckon ( with my extensive medical training) that antibiotics will clear it up.
