4000 word limit on personal statement

Hi, I was just writing my personal statement (soo should have done that earlier, but oh well) and I've written it in word and done a character with spaces count and it says it is 253 characters over but then i pasted it into the UCAS application box and that says i need to cut over 1000 characters.

Did anyone else have this problem cos I'm finding it really difficult to know what to cut! Why the massive difference too?

Erm, you've got it slightly wrong: there is a limit of 4000 characters for a UCAS PS, not 4000 words.

Keep an eye on the 47 max line limit, too.

didnt know about the 47 line limit tho, i guess this is what my problem is at the mo

:frown: must keep cutting....

There is if you have Firefox 2!

But yeah, I did it on Word, had 47 lines, and then pasted it in UCAS, and it was a good number of characters over the limit. Ugh!

yeah, I have my computer set so it spell checks everything I type because I can't spell.

UCAS doesn't count the same as word, but I found it that the difference was fairly consistent, so I could figure out how to cut it quickly.
