Not sure how to answer (ii)

If anyone can answer them for me id appreciate it,
Is it just asking to draw the intermediate with wedged/hashed bonds?

    The intermediate is trigonal planar.

So is it just asking me to draw a trigonal planar... How is that 3D though.

I guess they're just checking you know that he intermediate has three bonding pairs and no lone pair on the central carbon which is therefore trigonal planar.

The question doesn't suggest you need to use orbitals. At best you could be expected to state sp2 hybridisation. The majority of it is to explain Markovnikov's rule.
