Sorry if this was the wrong place...

I've applied for a Psychology taster course at Royal Holloway. I'm going more for the experience of Uni and if I actually want to go and do Psychology as a degree - which I'm pretty certain I do. However, Royal Holloway is a little bit out of my league perhaps hahaha, but I still think it's worth it as I live relatively close and there's no harm - agree?
Also, they will email shortly, hopefully, asking for 150 words on why I want to study the course. I really want to get on to the course and don't know what/who I'll be against trying to get a place. (they select year 12 students out of the 150 words they receive from us)
Has anyone got any tips on how I can 'wow' them? I'm not asking on what exactly to write, as that is for me, but more on how to write it etc.
Of course, I may be taking this too seriously haha but there's no harm in doing so, is there?

    Thanks in advance

    PS.
If anyone is interested in applying for a taster course here's the link: http://tasters.gradsintocareers.co.uk/

Only thing is, it's run by University of London, therefore they're all held at London Colleges/Schools. And it's YEAR 12 only.

There's no harm at all in applying - if by out of your league you mean high entry requirements then it's okay to have one! I would say pick out specific things about the course and say why they interest you. If you've done any related work experience, mention this and say how it's made you want to study the course even more and why. Even if you're still undecided, they'll obviously have preference to those who are really passionate about studying it! Hope this helps

It's not only for year 12. One of the courses I applied for explicitly stated:
Course Requirements: This taster course is open to year 11, 12 and 13 students and anyone considering starting their undergraduate studies in September 2016.
Regarding your 150 words thing, just write about further reading you may have done, why you're interested in psychology etc. You can say you want to see how its like studying it at uni, and what you're planning to do with the degree in the future.
    Good luck!
