I'm interested to know how many Oxbridge candidates entered the competition. Supposedly, at Sixth Form it's the most prestigious essay prize for history, and unofficially, the winners generally if applying to Cambridge for history, get in.
Doing research on it, the past two years, 64 people have entered, which seems relatively small. Anyone else enter? I did =) 'Does childhood have a history?'

I entered a similar one aimed at Econoics. Talked about the Games Theory and Prisoners' Dilemma, didn't win though.

We had a few guy enter that when I was at school, and one of them won it. And yes, he did go to Cambridge. (Stupid boy...)

We find out the shortlisted entries in about two months time. Irritating.

It was something to do with the Bank of England, you had to write a 3,000 word essay on a selected area of Economics, in my year it was Games Theory, another year it was interest rates, another year it was fiscal policy.

I'm not sure if it's still running now, it was 4 years ago.
The Bank of England 2.0 competition is a very good economics one.

You do several rounsd of presentation until you (if you win your previous rounds) give your presentation to the actual bank of england members on what you think they should do with interest rates.

It's over for this year.. entries are put in by 30th April. Go to Cambridge's website, and then Peterhouse's website on that. It has a list of topics, and the rules of competition.
