As far as I know they don't interfere with contraception, but they are largely useless as appetite suppressants. You'd be better off with an assload of veg and a ton of water.

However, you might be one of those lucky few who they do have a genuine noticeable effect on.

Good luck, either way.

A ton of water doesn't do anything for me.

I exercise for 45 minutes, 5 days a week and no matter how much eat (has to be healthy ofcourse) I always find myself hungry at least 2 hours before I go to bed- even if I eat a peice of fruit or cracker I'll still feel hungry. Infact the hunder pangs are extermely hard to ignore and at times I almost feel like chucking in the exercise because on the days I don't do the exercise I don't crave junk food. And eating small healthy meals regularly doesn't help either because I already do that. I've also tried eating extermely large portions of pasta and drinking fresh orange juice quite a fair bit but that doesn't seem to help with my cravings either.

I've come to the conclusion that perhaps it would be better for my mental health if I just stopped exercising.

Apologies for the spelling mistakes.

Does it work for you? Is there anything at all on the market that will actually help beat junk food cravings or am I strange for getting them? I find it odd that my running partners who do the same amount of running as me don't get junk food cravings yet I eat loads regularly but I crave junk food (namely chocolates and sweet stuff) and they don't.

Excersize is an appetite supresant. Your body shifts blood from servicing your stomach to servicing your muscles.

Not true in all cases. It has the opposite effect with me.

Reply 8

It is true in all cases, but the effect is temporary, and when the blood returns to the stomach in many cases there will be an increase in hunger, because of the increase in calories burned...you're both right

Then theres the fact keeping busy keeps your mind off of food, i can be home all day munching on food, or i can be out all day, and not even think about eating.

eating many lbs of veg makes me full after that meal, but then my hunger returns with avengance. I find a high-fat diet to be great for suppressing hunger over longer periods. Certainly no grains etc, keep insulin stable. Eating carbs seems to just lead to greater cravings for them, which escalates further.

as for your question, i've never heard of any contraindictions there, and ime/imo there won't be a problem.

Anyone know if these interfere with contraception, I have the implant. The appetite suppresant is a mix of hoodia gordonii, guarana, gymnema sylvestris and chromium polynicotinate. Thanks muchly.
My understanding is that appetite supressants (especially ones containing chitin) only affect the absorbtion of the pill. But I'd check it out.

I'm not sure I'd trust these pills anyway. The point of an appetite is that your body is giving you a signal that you need to eat, and if you take that away you won't know when you feel hungry. There are safer ways to lose weight, rather than interfering with your body so directly.

Reply 13

Your appetite will increase due to calorie deficit, thats just what dieting does, thats why its so hard, and it will only get harder.

Grit your teeth and dig in or give up and be fat.

Thankyou for all the replies. And thankyou for your advice...but I am not fat nor am I trying to lose weight, it's just that recently I've felt a huge hike in how much I eat (over the past month), and yet I havn't put on any weight from that. Therefore I kinda wanted to take appetite suppresants to see if I really was getting hungrier and therefore needing/burning more calories, or if it was an emotional thing, due to new situations and stuff. So basically if I take these pills and I'm still eating loads either they don't work  or I am not really hungry but eating for emotional reasons. But if I take them and I stop eating so much, I'll know that I really was needing thse calories...I know it's a little long winded , but there you have it.

That is true - until you finish exercising then your blood sugar drops and WHAM - food alert!!

The best thing to use as an appetite suppressant is nicotine. Try patches, gum or the more conventional way.

Reply 17

nicotine. That is true. Only problem with nicotine is that horrible death thing.

Reply 18

Nicotine doesn't kill you, I'm pretty sure, It's the rest of the crap in cigarettes that kills you, so gum and patches will supress appetite safely
