I'm in my first year at uni and when i applied Firhill Court was my first choice, it looked AMAZING on the website, huge room, huge kitchen, en suite but that is not the case. The website's photos are so inaccurate it's unreal, I've just sent this email to the owners:
I am writing to complain about the Firhill Court accommodation. I'm currently in my first year of university and as a low-income student I receive the maximum amount of loans and grants through Student Finance. Despite this, rent for me eats up more than three-quarters of my income. Furthermore, the standard of living here is not worth the money I pay. The best thing about Firhill Court is the receptionists who are always kind and welcoming.
When I arrived in my room, I was struck by how inaccurate the photos on the website are compared to the actual rooms. The kitchens are ridiculously small, the sofas face away from the TV, which never works. The site is a half an hour walk from university, opposite a construction site and next to a football stadium which was conveniently left out of any of the descriptions and that my room delightfully overlooks.
The bathrooms are disgustingly small and there is no water pressure in my shower so showering takes 40 minutes and as well as that, my heating doesn't work. The lifts are often out of use and the hot water is very temperamental. I would like to know WHY I am paying so much to live here when the same amount can get me a two bedroom flat in Glasgow and a four bedroom house back in Wiltshire.
rent is just over £520 a month
so please go and visit where you'e thinking of living! i cant even move out because no one will take my room

Thanks for the warning, I've literally just been allocated Firhill today, but I haven't paid my deposit yet and now I'm rethinking. Would you be able to post pictures of your accommodation?

I'm not living in Firhill but my friend does - his whole flat has to pay extra for ridiculous things like a scratch on the table, saying it could go up to £80 which I find utterly ridiculous knowing how much you guys have to pay for a tiny room with a bathroom which I wouldn't dare give the honour to be called that.
Anyway, they keep charging them money for a flat which was already partially flawed and I find it revolting so I think you guys should know that your money won't be well-spent.
