Lump on side of testicle - cyst or malignant?

howdy
i recently found a small pea sized lump on the upper right testicle, facing the front. At first i thought it was a spot but after googling various different things, ive found it could either be a cyst or a benign/malignant tumour.
If it is a cyst, how long do they take to clear up? Im planning on waiting about 1-2 weeks and if theres no change or its gotten bigger, im going to go see my GP, but if it clears up i dont think i should bother.

is this a reasonable course of action or foolish?
thanks for any advice.

Mate, GP regardless, as soon as you can. Crown Jewels lumps need to be checked out.

go straight away, the length of time you wait, is vital! go tomorrow- it can all be sorted out a lot quicker!

Because it's better for the GP to check it out as soon as possible so to prevent it getting worse.

hey dude,

a couple of years ago i discovered one, put it off then all of a sudden got really panicky incase it could be the worst news possible.

I plucked up the courage to go to the GP and he was very professional and refered me to the nearby hospital for an appointment...

... he also said if it had been there for a while with barely any pain and not growing/changing size too much, there should be no need to worry.

Any ways i went to the hospital, had some cold jelly stuff put on me, and was quickly told it was just a cyst and shouldn't cause me any problems whatsoever.
I was also told that i should come back if it started to hurt/suddenly grew in size and if i was unhappy about it.
I was told that unless this happened it wouldn't be worth operating on it becasue many just disappear or shrink be themselves over time (operation = needle = :nn: )

So, 2 years or so on and it's still there minding it's own business, which is ok by...

But definetly get it checked out ASAP to put ur mind at rest more than anything... All the best

Yes, why???

Seriously go to a GP NOW! It could be just a cyst but theres no point waiting to find out, if its malignant it has to be dealt with asap

I had a similar situation a few months ago, went to the doc, he sent me for a scan. Turned out that it was just a cyst and it has since disappeared but better safe than sorry!

I have, had exactly the same. I was pretty nervous about seeing the GP (didn't want a sweaty man with his hands all over my balls), but eventually went as I was pretty worried. It turns out it was the epidermis. That's the bit attached to each testicle that attachs it to the sperm duct if I remember rightly. I read about mistaking this for lumps but still felll for it as it seemed much harder on one ball than the other. Anyway, going to see the doctor is the best course, as at least it will put your mind at rest.

Spare yourself the agony of waiting for it to go away. Go to the doctor's and get it checked. If it is harmless (which is very probable) your will not be stressing yourself any longer. If it turned out to be suspicious it could be tackled straight away.

If it is malignant (god forbid) then the two weeks you wait could make all the difference in how it is treated or how you respond to treatment. Go to the GP tomorrow and get it checked.

i know im a girl..but...it dosent sound too erm, good! go get it checked out!

Reply 12

As everyone else has said, just get it checked out now. You're bound to have to show your doctor your erm, privates, at some point so you might as well lose the fear now! If it is malignant then 2 weeks would make all the difference, and even if it's a cyst it probably won't go away in 2 weeks - just go! Good luck.

hy thnx every1 for the responses, read each 1 and obviously the overwhelming response is goto the GP. however the lump has recently 'burst' and white pus came out, therefore im pretty sure theres no way it can be a tumour of any sort. mega gross i know, but there was a hair among the pus too which maybe suggest an in-grown hair problem.
if this hadnt of happened id of followed the advice but im willing to give it the week to sort itself out now. I just dont wana go there and make a big deal out of something which, by the looks of it now, isnt that major.
thanks again.

Hmm even so, I'm pretty sure pus, particularly on the testicles, is not a particularly healthy sign...

Anyway, if you leave it a couple of days perhaps it could just go (with this new information), but if you're still worried go and see the GP anyway. People go to see the doctor's with complaints far more pointless than that- anything around the genitals has to be slightly more serious.

Look - go to the doctor. They have seen it all before.

Is there a chance that you could have an STD?
