Does frequent banter on whatsapp with a lady friend mean you are in the friendzone?

No :l what a silly assumption.

If you have feelings for her, just talk to her about it, or ask her how she feels!

Base the nature of your relationship with someone on facts- eg, are you getting along? Do you have similar interests? Do you enjoy each others company? I don't understand why you dont take a logical approach like that, rather than basing the whole thing on whatsapp for crying out loud. There are other ways of telling whether somebody likes you.
