What kind of work experience are you looking for? Med/Law/Finance etc.

For Medicine there are usually set channels at hospitals to do that. If you have a click around on their websites you can usually find. Maybe under 'education.' If you can't find it there, ring the main number and ask to be put through to the work experience or volunteering departments. Regardless of whether you are getting work experience for Medicine, you should also be doing some volunteering work in a hospital or caring environment ideally on the wards.
For Law, there are usually vacation schemes. Or you could be quite brave and email a firm directly asking politely but professionally if you can have a few days of voluntary experience in their office observing. If you are under 18 this might be more difficult. But work experience in a legal environment isn't essential to get into Law - they don't expect it, although it can add more strength to your application.
Finance is pretty much the same, you'll only get a couple of days out of it. And again you should be looking at the smaller boutique institutions and firms, I doubt getting a casual observation placement at Deloitte is possible unless you know the right people. They all seem to have schemes anyway - again check their websites in their 'careers' or 'recruitment' sections.
